Twilight League – 2010
Format – Round Robin
· League play will commence on May 18, 2010.
· There are 10 teams of 10 players each that will play a round robin over the first nine weeks of league play. The round robin will determine the seeding for the playoff. The Top eight teams will make the playoffs.
· Top five players on each team will play the opposite nine holes being played by the bottom five players of each team, alternating between the front and back on a weekly basis.
· During the round robin portion of league, two lowest scores will be dropped each week. Substitutes can be used during the round robin.
· Positions occupied by each player at the start of round robin are frozen until the end of round robin. Handicap adjustments should eventually negate any issues.
· All-Star selections will be based on play during the round robin competition only.
Format – Playoffs
· Each team captain has an opportunity to shuffle his team line up before the playoffs begin. Once the first round is played, the position of each player in the team line up is frozen for the remainder of the playoffs. Substitutes can be used during the playoffs.
· Seeding for the playoffs will be determined based on the total points accumulated during the round robin. Any ties will be broken by a 9-hole match between the team captains that must be completed before the first round of playoffs begin. Sudden death will decide each match should the two captains be tied at the end of 9 holes.
· The team with the highest point total will play the team with the lowest point total, the team with the second highest point total will play the team with the second lowest point total and so on.
· The two lowest scores for each team will be dropped during the playoffs. Each week the two teams earning the fewest points will be eliminated from the playoff until only two teams remain.
· The six teams accumulating the highest point totals during the first round of the playoffs will move on to the second round. Any ties will be broken by a 9-hole match between the team captains that must be completed before the next scheduled match date. Sudden death will decide each match should the two captains remain tied at the conclusion of 9 holes.
· Seeding for the second round will be based on seeding positions achieved during the round robin. In other words, should the top seeded team during the round robin remain in the playoffs, they will play the team that was lowest seeded in the round robin yet remains in the play off. The remaining match ups will be determined the same.
· League awards will be given to the playoff winners and runners up.
Rules of Play
· Match play throughout the entire league schedule, round robin and playoffs.
· Current handicaps at the time the match is played are to be used.
· Each player has been assigned a unique number based on the slot he fills and the team he is on. The first number identifies the team; the second number identifies the flight. Example, the third player on team one has a unique number of 13, the captain is 11, the second person is 12. The captain of team 10 is 101; the second person is 102 and so forth. This number is critical to our system of scoring the matches this year.
· At the conclusion of each match played, you are required to fill out a scoring card that will be in the pro shop. You are being asked to date, identify the player’s using assigned # and name, post the match outcome of each player, and attest to the results with your initials..
· Only the eight highest scores will be counted during the regular season.
· All matches have to be completed by the close of the pro shop on the Friday following the scheduled match date unless the league decides to skip a week due to inclement weather. All matches must be played at Val Halla. No official score card submitted by closing time of pro shop on Friday night, no points for either player.
· Forfeits amount to a 5 to 0 win and can only be used when one player refuses to play on the date agreed to or refuses to have a substitute compete for him.
